"For our first tour of England, they band rented a rehearsal space, but I think we mainly played some Elvis Presley songs.

"Real rehearsals - you know, running through the tunes and making sure everything was right - that stuff didn't happen."

Mark also revealed that they were written as a studio session recorded songs were the same as most.

He explained to website MusicRadar: "Songs would be written in the studio. No demos. Angus [Young] and Malcolm [Young] would play things for George Young, and the tunes would be assembled right there. Once we had the skeleton of a song, we'd record it.

"Angus was full-on in the studio. When it was time for him to record his solos, he'd jump around and bounce off the walls, just like he would on stage. It was impossible for him to play and sit still. For rhythm tracks, he was somewhat subdued, but for solos, he went wild."

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson is passionate about cars as he is about rock music and to prove it, he competed at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion this weekend, driving a 1965 Lola T-70 amid 550 other historic vehicles that competed in 17 groups.

Johnson, 63, told Speed TV, “This is my first time here at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and my first time at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. But I’m going to come here for the rest of my life, and that’s a promise.”

Johnson racing inevitably compared to this song, since the two subjects, two things he knows very little about, saying, “You don’t give everything away at the first corner, just as you never give away everything at the start of a show. It’s no wonder they called them widow makers.”

AC/DC are ready to unleash a live CD/DVD package in the spring.

Three shows at Buenos Aires' River Plate Stadium in December 2009 had been filmed by the band each of which was in front of over 60,000 people.

Singer Brian Johnson said: “We’ve got a new live album which we shot in Argentina at the end of the last tour, which was about September. The live album comes out, with the video of those concerts, in about six weeks or something. So I’m looking forward to that.”

“After that [the live release] we haven’t made any plans," he said. "We just want to have a rest, because we were on the road for two years. We played in front of five million people, and we deserve a rest.”

The band upcoming album will be the sixth live record by the band.The last one they releeased was 1997’s ‘Let There Be Rock: The Movie – Live in Paris’.

“Fishing…and fishing," Williams told the Artisan News Service. "I love fishing. Just basically farting around."

"Feet up and a long rest after two years on the road,” said Cliff. “We're just going to take it easy for a while and see what happens. I'm sure the brothers (Angus and Malcolm Young) are writing … and I'm not (laughs). No, just take a break. It was a long tour."

The paceman described his current tour of England - which resulted in a one-day series loss to England and a drawn Test series with Pakistan - as a learning curve. He said the biggest lesson was to expect Ashes mania. Also, competition for a spot in the attack would be fierce.
''We tried to concentrate on the series, but it was hard to escape the Ashes because everyone was hyping it up over there,'' he said. ''I'm focusing on the Indian series to ensure I get a game in the Ashes. Competition is tough - we have so many good bowlers. Ryan Harris is coming back (from injury). Peter Siddle is as well.
''Everyone has to be on top of their game, and that's good because it means we'll all have to work harder.''

Classic Albums To AC/DC 'Back In Black'

Back in 1979 a little known, Gateshead born singer called Brian Johnson was performing with his band Geordie while suffering from appendicitis. Rolling around on the floor in agony and screaming before being wheeled off stage, the gig was watched by enthralled AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott who thought it was part of the show. At the time, AC/DC were riding high on the back of ‘Highway To Hell’, their first album to make an impact in America, and finally, after five years it seemed the band were on the verge of major commercial breakthrough. But less than a year later, Scott was found dead in a car after choking on his own vomit on a night out in London. Soon after his death, AC/DC hired Johnson as their new singer.
It’s debatable how many bands could lose their singer and return with not only their best record to date, but a record that would come to define the very spirit of rock ‘n’ roll itself, that would become a benchmark for other bands to aspire to aim for, but never better. ‘Back In Black’ is of course this album, and having sold over forty five million copies worldwide, it’s the second best selling album of all time, second only to Jacko’s ‘Thriller’.
A tribute to their late singer, despite being born out of grief, ‘Back In Black’ explodes in a testosterone fuelled, strutting slab of sex, booze and fast cars. A raucous celebration of hedonistic excess, it’s ten songs of pure escapism, a middle finger to the mundane existence of everyday life.
In comparison to Scott’s sleazy, bad boy growl, Johnson shrieks as though someone’s just stabbed him in the eye with a fork, while the Young brothers provide the frenzied solos and guitar riffs that spiral around him at an alarming rate. Sure, a lot of the songs sound the same and, despite being their best album, the prowling riff for ‘Shake A Leg’ or ‘Let Me Put My Love Into You’ could herald the arrival of myriad AC/DC numbers. Progression aint one of the band’s strong points, but hey, why mess with perfection?
Of course, along with ‘Highway To Hell’, the raunch of ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’, anthemic air punching of ‘Hells Bells’ and the unstoppable, instantly recognisable riff of ‘Back In Black’, have become AC/DC signature songs - as synonymous with the band as Angus Young’s school uniform, duckwalking and perpetually raised arm.
But it’s ‘Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ that always caught this writer’s ear. The whole anthem sums up the swaggering, stomp of AC/DC’s pleasure seeking attitude. And as Johnson screeches “Forget about the past / It’ll always be with us / It’s never gonna die”, it’s clear just how fitting a tribute for rock’s wild man, Bon Scott, ‘Back In Black’ was and still is the biggest sex-soiled party that rock ever threw.

At Donington AC/DC prove rock's not dead with a mighty show

AC/DC playing at Download after many years of rumours, AC/DC finally turned those rumours into reality and signed on the dotted line for a headline slot at Download Festival 2010. It is clear that a band as legendary as this don't actually need to play festivals as I'm sure they could sell out venues of this size just on their own. So being AC/DC part of their stipulation for playing was that they would be allowed to bring their own stage and set up.

Once in the main arena you could look the regular Download main stage then attached to that was another stage which was just as tall and wide as the main stage but this had two huge inflatable schoolboy red caps with horns protruding from the top of either side of the stage. These schoolboy caps even had a big letter 'A' emblazoned on them just in case there might be some misunderstanding about which stage was which. The AC/DC stage had a huge runway stretching into the middle of the audience. AC/DC opened their set with some video footage of at rain on the verge of crashing, when the train crashed on the video monitors, a real life sized model of the front of a train crashed through the back of the stage and that lead nicely into the opening track 'Rock N Roll Train'. AC/DC explained that they had come to party, and sure enough by the time they had reached the third song 'Back In Black' it was clear that the band had come to prove a point that rock music is far from dead.
As you would expect AC/DC did all of their trademark stage antics, with Angus doing his famous duck walk down the runway and Brian Johnson swinging from a huge bell for 'Hells Bells' and an inflatable 50 foot Rosie tapped along to the drum beat during 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. And of course for the finale canons were rolled out to fire whilst the dying notes of 'Those About To Rock (We Salute You)'. My personal highlight was seeing AC/DC perform 'Thunderstruck' with nearly one hundred thousand people singing along with them, it was one of those rare Donington memories that I will always treasure. So after 7 years of rumours, I can thankfully say it was worth the wait, rock bands don't get much better than this and it will be a very long time before AC/DC play Download Festival again, if they ever do play it again.

FOURTH headlining AC/DC have made a record appearance at the Donington extravaganza.
Rockers the ancient have changed their live routine very little since they first made top billing in 1981.
But now when ANGUS YOUNG does his on stage striptease and moons the crowd, he leaves his boxer shorts at full-mast, perhaps because his bum has become wrinkly and he doesn't want anyone to see.

The same guitar solos he plays- note for note - that he did a generation ago.
AC/DC still bash a giant bell for Hells Bells, still unleash roaring pyrotechnics for Highway to Hell, and still inflate a giant doll of a fat Tasmanian hooker for Whole Lotta Rosie. The songs, for the most part, remain the same and so does the script.
But the 100,000 capacity crowd adored it and AC/DC - who hold the record for headline appearances jointly with IRON MAIDEN - have discovered a new generation of fist-punching fans.
Why change the formula when you sell more albums than U2?
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE followed AC/DC's Friday night show with top spot on Saturday.
The marxist metallers - vindicated by bank collapses and corporate scandals - closed their set with their Christmas number one Killing In The Name.
In song they were joined by 100,000 denim n' leather clad rockers who roared the impressive "you I won't do what you tell me" outro.

AC/DC and Vaya Con Dios play Poland

Belgian group Vaya Con Dios is appearing in Zabrze, southern Poland, Thursday night, while Australian rock veterans AC/DC are billed at Warsaw’s Bemowo airfield.

The Silesian audience at the Music and Dance Stage in Zabrze will have the opportunity of listening to such nostalgic hits as “Don’t Cry For Louie”, “Puerto Rico” or “What’s A Man Without A Woman”.

Hard rock enthusiasts in Warsaw will have a treat with “Highway To Hell” and a long list of favorites they last heard back in August 1991 when AC/DC performed in Chorzow Stadium, down south.

Some 50,000 tickets have been sold for the open air concert in the capital. City transit authorities in Warsaw set up special bus lines to shuttle the fans between the Central Rail Station and the Bemowo suburb

Wheelchair Fan Skewered At AC/DC Gig

A quadriplegic man has been seriously injured at an AC/DCconcert after his friend hit the joystick of his motorised wheelchair, catapulting him into the mosh pit.

Witnesses said a metal pin used by the 31-year-old man to manoeuvre objects embedded in his eye as his chair crashed more than a metre to the floor of Brisbane's Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre.
The venue is facing criticism for not placing a proper barrier in front of the wheelchair podium.
The platform had side and rear barriers, but the only barrier at the front of the podium was a strip of timber and plastic caution tape.
The incident happened as more than 45,000 fans enjoyed the legendary Aussie rockers' second of two sold-out shows in the city.
The man's friend accidentally struck the joystick with his hand, and the wheelchair shot forward and fell off the platform.
A witness said the man's friend was "shattered, just devastated by what happened".
Paramedics immediately attended to the injured man, a former truck driver who was paralysed in an accident.
A hospital official said the man is out of intensive care but remains in a serious, but stable condition.
Stadiums Queensland, the organisation which controls the venue, issued a statement saying it was aware of the incident and was investigating.

AC/DC has special appeal for hard-rock-happy El Paso, Don't miss concert this weekend

El Paso -- There's a simple reason why Sunday's AC/DC concert at the Don Haskins Center sold out nearly 9,000 tickets in four hours last month.
"Because it works here," UTEP Special Events Director Carol Roberts Spence, who thinks the Australian hard rock legends could have filled the Sun Bowl. "This is an AC/DC town. This is the quintessential band, the perfect harmonic convergence of music in this community."
El Paso is and always has been a hard rock and heavy metal town, and this is one of the defining bands of the genre. But El Paso is also a town notorious for slow advance ticket sales, so a sellout in four hours is "unheard of" here, Roberts Spence said.
"We haven't seen that in years," she said. It "sold out in a heartbeat."
Maybe that's because AC/DC hasn't performed here in 21 years. The band last played El Paso on July 21, 1988, at the County Coliseum, according to venue officials. That show was packed, too, prompting an El Paso Times reviewer to marvel: "How this crowd got past the fire marshal I'll never know."
Anthony Bozza understands the group's appeal. The former Rolling Stone magazine writer recently wrote "Why AC/DC Matters," a 137-page examination of the band, its accomplishments and its nearly unprecedented success.
Only the Beatles have sold more records worldwide. AC/DC, which started in 1973, has sold 200 million of them, 22 million copies of 1980's "Back in Black" in the United States alone.
The band -- known for hits such as "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)" -- is the model of consistency, even though it has endured one tragedy (the 1980 death of singer Bon Scott), a handful of personnel changes, and some creative and commercial peaks and valleys.
"It's
Angus Young of AC/DC. no-frills rock 'n' roll. No B.S. They're all playing everything. There are no effects, no lip-syncing, no guitar overdubs," Bozza said. "They record live in a room. That's (also) what you get when you see them onstage doing it."
He marvels at their energy onstage, especially that of impish lead guitarist Angus Young, who still runs and duckwalks around the stage nonstop for two hours like a madman in a schoolboy's uniform.
"One thing that's so amazing about them is -- as classic rock bands age, they always start adding players to round out the sound. You see the Rolling Stones now and they have a little pack of backup singers on one side, and a guy who plays guitar on a couple of things," Bozza said. "That's not the case with AC/DC. It's just them. They do it all by themselves.
"To see them do it and see Angus run around and sweat literally 3 pounds of body weight at 54 is pretty incredible."
The group, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, will sweat on three generations of fans Sunday night.
"You can market them as a family show," Roberts Spence said. "The granddaddy, daddy and son all will be jamming to 'Hell's Bells.' "
"They are huge," said Glenn Garza, midday jock for rock station KLAQ-FM (95.5), who'll see them for the first time.
"They are a rock standard like Aerosmith or Kiss," Garza said. "People have grown up with them, raised kids to their music, and now grandkids, even. They span generations."
Bozza, whose book is a reaction to critics who have dismissed the group for years, said the fans see what the critics don't.
"There's always kind of been very little mention, or a few mentions that just kind of covered it like, 'AC/DC's back, we love them, it's loud and obnoxious music for bikers and strippers,'" he said in a mocking tone. "No one is seeing it's the roots of rock 'n' roll -- turned up to 12."

A small number of fans -- about 800, UTEP Special Events Director Carol Roberts-Spence said -- had to buy tickets for the AC/DC concert online using a ticketless system.
Ticketmaster, the country's largest event ticket company, experimented with the system last year for Tom Waits' show at the Plaza Theatre. The concept, which is now widely used by major touring acts, is designed to cut down on scalping and other resales.
The paperless system requires fans to produce the credit card with which they bought their tickets and a valid ID. They also have to bring everyone for whom they bought tickets. The credit card is scanned into a handheld device, which prints out a receipt with the seating information.
"I advise them to get there early, definitely, especially if they are on the floor in the first 10 rows (where ticketless tickets are located). It is sold out," Roberts-Spence said.
The south and west entrances of the Don will be closed to better facilitate the processing of ticketless purchases at the east and north entrances.
Oregon Street is closed between Robinson Street and Glory Road; part of Glory Road will be closed to accommodate all the band's trucks and buses, she said.

Are you aware there are thousands of fans just like us who have spent months discussing the Black Ice World Tour setlist, every one of them hoping that the band will play something other than songs geared towards casual fans? - the sort of fans that put money in your pockets, but who don't have the same level of passion for your music as us. They may cheer at the concerts, they may go home happy... but they only came to hear Thunderstruck. They don't eat, sleep and shit AC/DC like we do.

AC/DC Music Now Available Digitally?

(Music Radar) The Beatles' entire catalogue is available digitally- for now, it seems - on a US-based website called BlueBeat.com, with individual tracks going for 25 cents (15p) each.
The website is also streaming the currently remastered albums in their entirely, allowing listeners to listen to them for free. All of which is rather strange and shocking news to EMI and Apple Corps, who have fiercely blocked the online sale of all Beatles music.
(BW&BK also reports: In addition to the Beatles, one can find selections from AC/DC and Def Leppard on BlueBeat, artists who haven't licensed their full catalogs to iTunes.)

New Orleans Arena, AC/DC packed a formidable and familiar punch

In an unstable world, it is good that some things never different. AC/DC is one such thing.
For counting and 36 years, the quintet has trafficked in a blues based form of hard rock ‘n’ roll served up with a naughty wink. They do not pander with power ballads. They do not experiment with drum loops. And they most certainly do not rap.
The band’s 1980 masterwork “Back In Black” is, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, the fifth best selling album of all time in the United States, at 22 million copies and counting. Many of the songs on that album would work just as well on any other AC/DC album – except, perhaps, a couple of lame late-‘80s efforts – and vice-versa.
As evidenced by AC/DC’s Wednesday night show at a not-quite-full New Orleans Arena, not only does the song remain the same, but the presentation as well. Lead guitarist Angus Young, at 54, still vamps in his crushed-velvet schoolboy uniform. Vocalist Brian Johnson still wears his working-guy tight jeans, motorcycle boots, sleeveless shirt and flat cap.
As for the rest of the band, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams and guitarist Malcolm Young look like guys who collect tickets at a traveling carnival’s Ferris wheel. They could easily pass for members of their own road crew.
But collectively, they rank among the tightest, most dependable rhythm sections in rock. They are why AC/DC songs are so popular in strip clubs; their groove speaks directly to the hips.
They formed three legs of a tripod. Malcolm Young and Williams stood rooted in place on either side of Rudd’s kit, except when they ventured forth in unison to add backing vocals. Vocal chores complete, they retreated to their stations. During Angus’s finale of a solo, they stood patiently, arms folded across their instruments, until their contributions were again required. As usual, they resumed exactly in place and in time.
So it went for two hours. Hundreds of souvenir red devil horns flickered red throughout the arena; one could also purchase an Angus Young school boy tie for $35. An opening cartoon starring our heroes in a PG-13 adventure aboard a “Rock ‘n Roll Train” gave way to the song of the same name and a smoking, life-size locomotive that served as the stage backdrop.
As far as arena rock props go, the train managed to walk that fine line between awesomeness and Spinal Tap-esque excess. So, too, the giant inflatable floozy – her bosoms were taller than the Young brothers – that straddled the locomotive during “Whole Lotta Rosie.”
During his traditional striptease in “The Jack,” Young dropped his shorts. In years past, he flashed a full moon. In his only concession to advancing years, this time he revealed only a pair of AC/DC boxers.
Otherwise he was his manic old self, a perpetual motion machine whose solos in “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and elsewhere were spot on. Happily, he is a rock guitarist who still remembers how, and why, to solo. His sources go back to the dawn of rock ‘n’ roll and beyond. The hard blues that cranked over the P.A. as the pre-show music is an obvious influence. His duck walk is straight-up Chuck Berry.
Unlike, say, Eddie Van Halen, Young remains in full possession of both his abilities and the willingness and focus to deploy them. “Let There Be Rock” ended the regular set with an epic Angus guitar excursion. Camera operators had the good sense to project a close-up of his fingers on the 30-foot-tall center screen, so all could bear witness to the details.
Johnson was, as usual, the whole arena’s best mate. How, at 62, he sustains his voice – it is the sound of gravel being gargled – for two hours a night, let alone a months-long tour, is a mystery. He ranged back and forth across the stage and the runway that extended halfway across the arena’s floor, grinning, enjoying himself and making sure those in attendance did as well.
With few exceptions – the sleazy, slow-blues bump ‘n grind of “The Jack,” the bombast of “For Those About to Rock” – AC/DC sticks to a familiar tone and tempo. Material from 2008’s “Black Ice,” the band’s first studio album in eight years, coexisted amicably with the classics. “Thunderstruck,” questionable in its studio version, benefited from a live treatment.
No one does AC/DC better than AC/DC, and they are as potent as ever. The staggering riffage of “Hell’s Bells,” the nearly-tipping-over-the-side-of-the-freeway rush of “Shoot to Thrill,” the curt, snarling guitars of “TNT,” the dirty boogie of “Whole Lotta Rosie” – it’s all still intact.
Early on, in “Back in Black,” Johnson changed the “I’m back” line to “we’re back.” But AC/DC has never really gone – or faded -- away.

Record staff with offer to sign AC/DC record 'Scruffy geezer' stuns Keswick

So co-owner David Lomas thought nothing of it when he saw a “scruffy geezer in a flat cap” browsing through the vinyl albums at the St John’s Street shop currently.
The man brought one record to the counter.
The rock band AC/DC was Back In Back.
Released in 1980, this is one of the best selling albums of all time, having shifted something in the region of 40m copies.
“Would you like me to sign it?” asked the customer.
“Er... who are you?” replied David.
“I’m the singer.”
Yes, the scruffy geezer was AC/DC front man Brian Johnson, whose gravelly voice is one of the most familiar in rock music.
David was glad to let Brian sign the album and the signature quickly made the record a very lucrative item.
So lucrative that another customer offered to buy it there and then.
The price was raised from £8 to £25 and the deal was done.
Mark Stainton, another of the shop’s three co-owners, tells Reiver: “David didn’t recognise him. He does the books, not the records.
“He wouldn’t recognise Madonna if she came in wearing a pointy bra.

Johnson, now 62, is from Gateshead. His main home is in Florida but he has been seen in the Lakes before.
Although its members are nearing retirement age, AC/DC are still going strong.
The band’s most recent album, Black Ice, reached number one last year.
Johnson joins Paul McCartney on the short list of famous musicians who shop in Cumbria; McCartney having said that he enjoys shopping in Carlisle because he can apparently do so without being recognised.
As for AC/DC, Reiver wonders if their singer’s love of Cumbria might inspire them to re-record some of their best-known songs?

No Bull Concert Set For Blu-Ray Release In December, AC/DC

According to Highdefdigest.com, after a delay of over a year, AC/DC’s 1996 concert filmed in Madrid, Spain will eventually hit Blu-Ray in two months. Sony Music is prepping AC/DC: No Bull for a high definition release on December 8.
There’s no word on tech specs or extras as of yet, but a full tracklisting can be viewed below.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $24.98 US.
The concert was filmed in 1996 in the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, in Madrid, Spain, on Super 16 film.

Third Concert Added; Two 65,000-Capacity Buenos Aires Shows Sold Out, AC/DC

With two 65,000 capacity gigs (December and December 4) at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina already sold out, AC/DC has added one more concert at the same venue on December 6. This Tuesday ticket go on sale, October 13. AC/DC will release a limited edition box set called "Backtracks" on November 10. The set, which comes in two versions, will be available on November 10 only through the ACDC Backtracks.com web site. As previously speculated, the "deluxe" package is housed inside a fully operational AC/DC amplifier and will come in a limited, autographed run of 50,000 copies. Included in the set are three CDs of live and studio rarities, two DVDs, a vinyl LP also containing studio rarities, a 164 page coffee table book, fine art lithographs of rare photos, a reproduction of an early AC/DC concert flyer and other memorabilia, including a button, guitar pick, and more. A standard edition will feature two CDs of live and studio material, a single DVD plus bonus videos. The first DVD is the long awaited video compilation "Family Jewels 3", which rounds up the group's music videos, live performances, and promotional clips from 1992 to 2009. The second DVD, "Live At The Circus Krone", captures a complete club show that the band played in Munich in 2003.Details on pre-ordering the set are available at the web site, along with the full track listing.Among the studio rarities included in the set are alternate versions of a number of early AC/DC tracks, as well as the never-before-released "Love Song", possibly the only ballad the band ever wrote with original singer Bon Scott.

Medical Problems explains AC/DC Singer That Forced Show Cancellations

On Wednesday AC/DC singer Brian Johnson released a statement on the band’s Web site as a follow up to an announcement earlier this week that AC/DC would be cancelling six October dates Johnson needed to have because of a “medical procedure”.
“It’s an inside job that forced me to reschedule those upcoming 6 gigs,” he said.“Inside being the operative word here. My insides were giving me lots of trouble, ulcers and such. They were really uncomfortable and painful, which required me to seek immediate medical attention.
“The doctors looked me over, poked, scanned and prodded all possible areas. In the end they gave me a clean bill of health, but insisted that I take a bit of time to recuperate and rest up. We’ve been touring non stop since this time last year and have a lot more touring to do. Thanks for all of the get well wishes and I hope to see you all again very soon.”
AC/DC gigs in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Louisville, Kansas City, Des Moines and Milwaukee were all postponed, with the tour scheduled to resume Oct. 16 in Washington D.C.
AC/DC has been touring since July in support of its Black Ice album, released last fall.

(PR) The Answer, from Northern Ireland, has been selected to continue as the only opening act for the final North American encore leg of AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour. The itinerary kicks off October 1st at the US Airways Arena in Phoenix, AZ and concludes on November 8 in Houston, TX at the Toyota Center. The Answer will also headline their own club shows on off days throughout the tour.
The Black Ice World Tour represents The Answer's third tour of America with AC/DC. Their mammoth sound is often compared to The Black Crowes and Free, and is fully primed for stadium and arena shows. AFL over Etihad concerts, AC/DC settles dispute

LEGENDARY rockers AC/DC will play their Black Ice tour concerts at Etihad Stadium in February after the date was previously thrown into doubt because of AFL objections.
The current signing of a new contract between the story and the stadium has allowed AC/DC to go ahead with the three Melbourne gigs on February 11, 13 and 15.
The AFL had previously objected saying those dates would clash with a possible pre-season NAB Cup match.
The league and the stadium announced their new deal today, worth an extra $5.5 million to AFL clubs over a 15 year period.
The deal elevated the minimum number of matches to be played at the venue but also gives the stadium's operators biggest flexibility to stage non football events, such as concerts like AC/DC.
The Aussie rockers have sold 180,000 tickets for their Melbourne shows.

ROCK ON IN THE RAIN AC/DC

AC DC refused to halt their outdoor show in Edmonton, Canada on Tuesday night (25Aug09) after the venue was hit by a monumental electric storm .Wild weather conditions thrashed the city's Commonwealth Stadium just before the Back In Black hitmakers took the stage, with thunder and lightning rocking the region. But the band was intransigent the show would go on and took to the stage in spite of the storm, with heavy rain descending on the 60,000-strong crowd an hour into the show. The rockers were forced to halt the show when a giant inflatable devil horn joined to the side of the rigging collapsed in the wet, but the band continued as soon as the prop was removed by technicians.

Hey AC/DC fans: If you plan to rock out with Angus next Monday at the Tacoma Dome, Sound Transit needs you to avoid the Highway to Hell.
For those who take the Sounder commuter train to the show, Sound Transit is offering a special northbound train after the gig from the Tacoma Dome station. It will depart 30 minutes after the house lights come up.
The Monday night show starts at 8 p.m. Traffic and parking are assumed to be a challenge.

To catch a train to the gig, riders "can hop aboard any usually scheduled afternoon southbound Sounder train between Seattle and Puyallup and ride to Freighthouse Square in Tacoma, just a short walk from the Tacoma Dome," Sound Transit said in a news delivery.
According to the schedule, the last southbound train before the gig leaves Seattle at 6:15 p.m. The after gig train will follow the normal route, stopping in Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, Tukwila and Seattle. Normal fares will assign.
A one way trip from Seattle to Tacoma is $4.75. Riders can use ORCA cards or even purchase tickets in advance. For more info, check out Sound Transit's Web site.
Tacoma Link light rail also will run two hours later, until midnight, for gig goers. Sound Transit Express buses also act the Tacoma Dome.

Makes a party to AC/DC

Poking around the parking lot prior to the AC/DC show at Canad Inns Stadium yesterday afternoon, a party from the Saskatchewan town requisition top prize for for the best tail gate. And it wasn't even close.
Sorry, Winnipeg.
Hours before the Australian rockers took to the stage, a group of about 20 Esterhazians in two RVs got down to business, enjoying their trip to the Manitoba capital by shaking it all night long.
"We got here (Friday night), checked out the peelers, went to a few bars and saw MC Hammer," said a rather festive Brad Nicholausol, not at all baffled by the list of events his AC/DC Eve necessitate.
The rural Manitoba rocker was also represented last night.
Near the Esterhazy RV Park was a group from St. Pierre, St. Malo, and Ste. Agathe. Five adolescent, all with their shirts off and the letters A-C-/-D-C painted on their chests.
On the backs, a similar tribute, with A-N-G-U-S painted in bright red.
"The country is where the party's at," laughed Al Baudry, a father who was supporting this team.
According to Shirlee Preteau, vice president of event process with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, more than 36% of the tickets sold for the Black Ice world tour stop were bought from outside the city.
"They range all the way from Victoria to Newfoundland, from up in Yellowknife down to New Mexico," she said.
Angie Martin started her AC/DC journey from Portage la Prairie. With her young son Gavin be her side and a few merchandise trinkets in her aplomb, her anticipation of watching guitar legend Angus Young dance around the stage in his schoolboy out fit was sky high.
"The radio was playing their songs and you're getting goosebumps all the way in," she said. "They got the good music. Hard tunes ... and they got Angus."
Angus was certainly connected in with the local AC/DC circuit last night. While a few dudes looked very much the part as Brian Johnson (with the black curls creeping out from under his flat cap), the Angus costume knows no gender bounds.
"This will be the best show of the year, by far," Lorette native Riley Pichlyk predicted, as a girl walked past the conversation dressed in full Angus-gear.
Despite the popularity of the event, the promoters at True North Sports and Entertainment and police did not take any special measures to ward off scalpers and those looking to flip their tickets.
AC/DC also took steps to abash scalpers on the Internet. The first 3,000 tickets that were sold are only available for pick up at 2 p.m. yesterday -- ensuring a small window for a cyber re-sale.

Why less is always more the genius of AC/DC?

One note amazement abound in rock ‘n’ roll, and the leering king of them all is headlining Friday at the United Center. I say this with all due respect and affection: AC/DC is one of the best rock bridle of all time.
But leader they are not. They are what they are, and they really haven’t changed a whole lot since they started raising a ruckus in Australian biker bars in the early ‘70s. Angus Young wore his trademark schoolboy knickers and beanie back then, and he does now. Brother Malcolm Young and his rhythm guitar still tend to the almighty groove like a hawk guarding its young against beast of prey. And singer Brian Johnson (and before him the great Bon Scott) still screams and struts like he’s Jack the Ripper on the hunt. They mix juvenile humor with pithy (and sometimes abstruse) observations about sex, death and drinking. They come apposite it as regular, blue-collar guys because they once were (and still are to a large amount, despite their multimillionaire status). Their accomplishment has come on the back of hard work and on one of the most reliable, bang for the buck agreement experiences anyone could wish for. No posh rock star attitude for these guys. Just a party that swings like a wrecking ball.
Now Johnson’s voice is pretty much shot, and Angus Young isn’t the active kid he used to be when he band down to his shorts and does whirlybirds on his back while soloing. But beauty and youth was never the point. These guys always looked like they belonged in a alley gang alternately of a band. What endures is their sense of fun, their unrepentant love of blues-based rock ‘n’ roll, those titanic riffs, and Malcolm Young’s undeniable sense of groove and grind. With any justice, he’d be as big as Keith Richards, but Malcolm has always chosen to remain in the shadows, content to toil in the band’s engine room alongside chain-smoking drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams.
So what if every AC/DC song more or less sounds the same (admit it, it’s not absolutely a broad palette these guys play with)? Angus and Malcolm Young learned to play listening to Chicago blues records, which in turn drew upon the oral convention and one chord songs of the Mississippi Delta blues. This was not an art form that celebrated formal design. This was a language based on nicety and personality much more so than complex arranging and songcraft. The art is in how it simultaneously celebrates and reconfigures the source material; the sound loses allure and power the farther it isolated from that fundamental feel (think of all the really bad tourist blues bands you’ve seen play in motel concourse across the land; same chords, same words, but still sadly lacking the brio and bravado of greatness). And so AC/DC sticks to what it does best. It scraps to change, to adapt, to ride the chir style.
They are matched in their resolve by only a handful of bands. The Ramones and Motorhead spring quickly to mind. So do the Cocteau Twins and Bad Religion. All these bands developed iconic, signature sounds and made at fewest a dozen (if not more) records that as the matter of fact refined it, but especially strayed from the source. Critics tend to beat up bands for not innovating, but in the cast of these outfits, it’s like they made up their own language, and speak it like no one else. They’ve achieve their sense of unwavering style.
It’s also difficult to complain about truth in packaging. Whenever you got an AC/DC or Ramones album, you often knew what it was going to sound like before you even played it. At their performance, you’d go in knowing how you were going to come out three hours later: with a giddy, satisfied smile on your face.

Cara Stafford, a Saint John resident, described the agonizing wait as she could hear the music reverberate from the other side of the security fence.
“Very said,”We desided on the last night that we wanted to come to the concert,” Stafford said,”However, we are last in line, so we are doubtful we're going to get tickets."
After more than an hour's wait, she and her friends discussed another strategy of watching the concert through the fence.

The summer run comes on the heels of last October's "Black Ice," the band's first new studio effort in more than eight years. The album made history, debuting at No. 1 on the charts in 29 countries including the US, with stateside sales of more than 780,000 copies its first week.

"Black Ice" also became Columbia Records' biggest debut album since Nielson SoundScan sales tracking began in 1991, according to a press release. The successful first week was quite a feat, considering the album is sold exclusively at Walmart, Sam's Club and via the band's website.

The rock icons kicked off the initial leg of the "Black Ice World Tour" last October, marking the group's first live performance in five years. The long-awaited trek posted sellouts in 18 major markets, prompting encore performances in several cities, and broke sales records at a handful of North American venues.

The Answer's debut album, "Everyday Demons," hit stores in March. The set was recoded last year in Los Angeles with John Travis (Kid Rock, Static-X) producing.

AC/DC have gone back to the drawing board for their first album in eight years. Perhaps chastened by the lukewarm reaction that greeted Stiff Upper Lip in 2000, the AC/DC group have had a dramatic, almost shocking rethink for this, their 15th LP. The band’s signature guitars and high-pitched vocals are largely absent from Black Ice; in their place sit glitch electronics and skittering drum machines, swirling strings, honking horns and children’s choirs and …
Only joking. Black Ice sticks so closely to the AC/DC template that you can’t help but wonder if it’s been computer-generated. There are big, crunchy riffs.
There is thunderously straightforward drumming. There are basslines that go dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum until guitarist Angus Young decides to change chords and everyone follows suit. There are sexual innuendos that most 15-year-olds would dismiss as immature. There are shrieking vocals and daft lyrics and 53-year-old men dressed as schoolboys.
There is not a single note that offers even a suspicion of surprise.
And that, basically, is that. If you think you’ve heard it before, you probably have. It ain’t broke; they didn’t fix it.

AC/DC are an Australian hard rock band shaped in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. Although the band is considered pioneers of heavy metal, its members have always off the record their music as "rock 'n' roll".

AC/DC underwent several schedule changes before launching their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained established until bassist Cliff Williams replaced Mark Evans in 1977. In 1979, the band recorded their highly successful album Highway to Hell. Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly careful disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected as Scott's replacement. Later that year, the band released their best-selling album, Back in Black.

The band's next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, was also highly successful and was their first album to reach number one in the United States. AC/DC refused among peoples soon after the departure of drummer Phil Rudd in 1983. Poor record sales continued until the release of The Razors Edge in 1990. Phil Rudd returned in 1994 and contributed to the band's 1995 album Ballbreaker. Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000 and was well-received by critics. The band's new album Black Ice was announced in June 2008 and is set for release on 20 October 2008.

AC/DC have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 69 million albums in the United States. Back in Black has sold an estimated 42 million units worldwide and 22 million in the United States alone, making it the fifth highest-selling album ever in the United States. AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band Of All Time" by MTV. The album is at present available for pre-order at www.walmart.com and www.acdc.com.
The album’s first single, "Rock ‘N’ Roll Train" was released to radio on August 28 and immediately went to #1 at Rock Radio. The video first appearance on September 19th on
